Hello to all of the volunteer staff at the library, and a big thanks for the wonderful work you are doing! I am researching my g-g-g-grandfather, Thomas McGuire. He was born in Ohio in 1842 (I don't know which county) and lived in Mercer county in the 1840's through the 1860's. He was married to Olive R. Lacy (daughter of Job and Margaret Lacy of Mercer County). They were married on May 5, 1865 in Celina. I have many records for the family from the Thomas's Civil War records onward (he was in the 31st Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Co. C), including Census records, etc... The mystery I am trying to solve is who Thomas's parents were. The earliest record I have for him is the 1850 US Census, wherein he is enumerated as living in Butler Twp. with a William McGuire (aged 59 yrs. born in PA) and another William McGuire (aged 20 yrs., born in OH). I don't know who these men were to him. Were they father/brother or uncle/cousin? I also know that Thomas alternately listed his father as being born in PA in some records and Ireland in others. I would REALLY appreciate any help or insight into this mystery. It is definitely a brick wall! I have scoured all of the sites on the web, many of which I am a paying member with all of the bells and whistles, to no avail! Also, I contacted the courthouse in Celina, but they said they were too busy to look up the marriage records for Thomas and Olive. Subsequently, another researcher said that they had tried to personally locate them, but could find nothing. I know that Thomas was listed as McGuire, Maguire, McGuyer, McQuire, McGuinn, and McCuin on different records! I have tried all of these name variations, but only have found the 1850 census and two 1860 censuses where he was living in different locations. I thought maybe you would have access to old newspapers or records that weren't available to me online. Please help if you can! Thank you SO MUCH!  Warmest regards, Andrew Beachum
